We are two American expats (Beth and Brian – the BEES ) that bought an abandoned farm just outside of Palazzolo Acreide, Sicily. Here we post videos, photos, reels and blog about what living here is really like: the challenges, the joys, the ups and the downs. But truth be told? We mostly share stories about how lucky we are to have discovered this beautiful island and the amazing people that live here.

For some context we started off on YouTube in 2023 and at first it was pretty good. YouTube pushed our videos out and we got hundreds of thousands of views. It was actually kind of exciting and very rewarding. As time wore on, however, we wound up getting pretty disillusioned – like 99.9% of "creators" do – by the vagaries of the algorithm, the clickbait and the carpet bombing of ads.

Bottom line, YouTube started sucking all of the fun out of something we really like to do: make good content for viewers interested in Sicily and inspire others to follow in our footsteps. So we decided to do our own thing – which is pretty much the way we have always lived our lives!

Better Content

We still have a presence on YouTube, and we will still make videos for our community of 10,000 subscribers that have followed us over the last couple of years, but? We no longer want to make PBS style content for a platform that really just wants to be TikTok.
